WhispaWave

Who we are

Two founders. Made in Germany.

We're Nils and Micha. WhispaWave exists because dictation tools made too many mistakes in German and were missing the features we needed every day.

German language quality made WhispaWave worth building seriously. So did the ambition to deliver finished text instead of a raw transcript.

Too many mistakes became a product.

01

The trigger.

We used the big dictation tools in German and corrected them daily. Umlauts, formal address, technical terms, German sentence structure: too many mistakes for a tool you need every day.

On top, features we missed daily were simply not there.

02

The idea.

So we built it ourselves: optimized for German, with the features we were missing. And because Nils comes from management consulting and dealt with GDPR requirements daily, one thing was clear from day 1: servers in the EU. Two people whose email addresses are in the imprint.

03

What it is today.

WhispaWave is finished and in daily use by the first DACH professionals. Some write newsletters, some code, some document client calls. Most are freelancers between 30 and 60: people who type more than they talk.

04

Where it's going.

The Mac app is here, Windows is next, iPhone and Android are in the works — all built in parallel so it feels like one product later. We'll stay a team of two as long as that works. Not on principle, but because today's tool pipeline makes it feasible for two people.

No beta: WhispaWave is finished and in daily use by the first DACH professionals.

Language

German first

Umlauts, formal address, jargon and sentence structure were not edge cases. They came up every day.

Team

Nils + Micha

Two founders, short feedback loops, every product decision tested at our own desks.

From too many mistakes to today.

From the first Wispr Flow excitement to the weak-spot list to our own app. What comes next, and what deliberately does not.
  1. Summer 2025Done

    Discovered Wispr Flow.

Tested it free for a month and didn't want to go back. Dictating instead of typing was daily routine from day one.

  2. Fall 2025Done

    Collected the weak spots.

The more daily use, the more visible the gaps: too many mistakes in German, missing features. We took notes instead of just cursing.

  3. Late 2025Done

Took it apart, made a plan.

Brainstorming and a proper analysis: where are the errors? What are the pros, what are the cons? Where do we start? Conclusion: build it ourselves. German first.

  4. January 2026Done

    First prototype.

After weeks of correcting transcripts, the first German speech-model test ran on the Mac. It took a few seconds. Still convinced: this can be done better.

  5. March 2026Done

    The first pros.

First waitlist post on indie-hacker forums. The first signups grew into the first active users within weeks. The vocabulary and style modes came straight out of that feedback.

  6. June 2026Live

    Launch: Pro public.

New website, public Pro tier, Team plan for firms and practices. The Mac app leads the way.

  7. LiveLive

    Windows client.

Same backend, dedicated client. Hotkey logic rebuilt once: Pro runs on Windows too.

  8. LiveLive

    iOS + Android.

Mobile apps for iPhone and Android: dictate on the go, with the same account.

Two people. Reachable.

Nils Löchterfeld & Michail Koutchiach

Founding team

Dortmund. Nils comes from management consulting: ten years of client work with more typing than talking, where GDPR compliance was never negotiable. Micha has been building WhispaWave with him since early 2026.

If something doesn't work or you have a question no FAQ answers: write us directly. The email lands with us, not in a ticket system.

We build this because we use it ourselves, every day.— Nils & Micha

Nils & Micha · founding team

Four sentences that explain everything.

No mission statements. Four facts that apply to every decision in the product, from pricing to hosting.
  • 01

    Built by us.

We write the code, set the price and answer support mail ourselves. No outsourcing, no proxies.

  • 02

    Hosted in the EU.

Audio and content stay in the EU: built in Europe, run on EU servers, no detour via the US.

  • 03

    Paid by us.

No investors, no pitch deck. Bootstrapped from day one. Every Pro subscription goes straight back into servers and roadmap.

  • 04

    We feel it too.

Every bug that bothers you bothers us too. Our inside joke: we build the product we want to use every day.

Want to build it with us?

14 days Pro. No credit card. If it doesn't fit: just stop using it. If it does: tell us what's missing. The roadmap is built in dialogue.
