This guide takes you through the whole journey: from download to your first finished text. You’ll find more detail on each step in the other articles in this category.
Step 1: Download and install
- 1Download WhispaWave from the download page and open the .dmg file.
- 2Drag WhispaWave into your Applications folder and launch it from there.
- 3Sign in or start the free trial.
Step 2: Grant permissions
WhispaWave needs two permissions from macOS. Grant both under System Settings → Privacy & Security:
- Microphone: so WhispaWave can record your speech.
- Accessibility: so the finished text lands where your cursor is. WhispaWave doesn’t read along, the permission only allows inserting text.
Step 3: Your first dictation
- 1Open any app with a text field, for example a new email or a note, and click into it.
- 2Hold Fn and speak naturally. Filler words and slips are fine.
- 3Release. WhispaWave cleans it up and inserts the finished text.
Step 4: See the polish
Compare what you said with the inserted text: punctuation is in place, slips are gone and WhispaWave smooths out filler words where it makes the text more readable. You control how much WhispaWave steps in via the auto-cleanup level (off, light, medium or strong). Your original stays recoverable at any time.
Step 5: Try Pro free for 14 days
You try Pro free for 14 days, no credit card. After the trial you decide whether to stay on the free plan or move to Pro. The article “Trial & subscription” has all the details.
